"It's a String Thing" #158

It's Tuesday, your good news day!

A few weeks ago, long time IAST contributor Sharyn Penna (Massachusetts) suggested an Olympic themed challenge.  In her latest note she wrote,  "Cheers to the Olympic spirit of international unity ... something we see every week at IAST!"

In the spirit of our international community and of the great games, let's begin with this string ~
IAST#158 String by Adele Bruno, CZT
The word RIO or the Olympic rings may have made interesting strings, but the way the numerals 1 and 6 are linked in the 2016 date caught my attention.  Don't they make an intriguing string?

For tangles, we begin with a new one from another IAST regular, Lily Moon -

Drogon (click to view her blog post and step out)

In addition to Lily's pattern, add your own "Gold Medal" tangles - the ones that are your "go to" tangles, or as Zentangle® founder Maria Thomas calls them your "mac and cheese".

Use as many or as few as you would like.  Please include the pattern names and creators where possible.  That way, if someone admires your work and would like to use or learn a new tangle, it/they can be easily researched.

This will be exciting - cheers to the Olympian in all of us!

Simply pencil the string line onto your tile and tangle away! Keep in mind that string lines are suggestions and let the patterns lead the way.

Here are the (Not so) Official Guidelines:
